For the week of March 10, 2024
Hi church family!
I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was a bit of a mixed bag- All of my kids and Deb are feeling better, but I think I caught all of what they had! Here’s what we are looking at this week:
Church Service Day:
This Sunday is Church service day!!!!! I can’t overstate how excited I am to do ministry with everyone this weekend. Here’s what you need to know:
We do not have any D-Groups this weekend.
If you have signed up on our sign-up sheet, you will receive a call/text/email from your ministry leader this week- be it the Bokisa’s (donuts and coffee), myself (ministering at the nursing home), or Christian Smith (The board game afternoon). That individual will give you all the details necessary for your ministry service for that day.
If you haven’t signed up yet, but would like to, give me a call or text.
If you have any questions, give me a call or text 216.403.5462.
Jr. Jam Easter Party
On Sunday, April 24th, we have our Jr. Jam Easter Party! If you have any friends or relatives that (a) have kids in 6th grade and down or (b) is a kid in 6th grade and down, feel free to invite them. The party begins at start of our service
Annie Armstrong Easter Offering:
We are about mid-way through our Annie Armstrong Easter offering, with a goal of raising $275. So far, we have raised $280.00. Please be in prayer over what God would have you give to this cause.
Easter Service
Our Easter service is on Sunday, March 31st. It will be on Family Sunday. We look forward to celebrating the resurrection of Christ with you on that day!
More information on The Trinity:
Last Wednesday, and on Sunday, we spent some time discussing the Trinity. From what I understand, the topic was met with some confusion on the subject. Below are two short and simple videos that help explain the Trinity. The first is called the simplest way to understand the Trinity by theologian Fred Sanders. The second video is a video called The Trinity Explained in 5 minutes by YouTube Redeemed Zoomer:
· The simplest way to understand the Trinity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh0sRmIb0Qk
· The Trinity explained in 5 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f4BJgaOStI&t=127s
There is also a great document called the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith which I believe does a great job explaining not only the Trinity, but many fundamentals of our faith:
· The table of Contents https://founders.org/library-book/1689-confession/
· The chapter (paragraph) on the Holy Trinity https://founders.org/library/chapter-2-god-and-the-holy-trinity/
The doctrine of the Trinity is an essential and central doctrine to the Christian faith, and while we can still understand it only by faith, that means by faith, we can understand the Trinity. If you had any questions about the Trinity, give these three resources a gander.
Additional Resources:
Over the weekend, we looked at the hard saying of Jesus which stated, ‘we must be perfect, as our Father in heaven in perfect.’ Here is the sermon information:
Text: Matthew 5:38-48
Sermon Series: Hard sayings of Jesus
Title: You must be perfect
Main Idea of the Text: Jesus shows that discipleship requires being perfect as God is perfect
Main Idea of the Sermon: We must imitate our heavenly father.
I- By showing meekness to our enemies (Verses 38-42)
II- By showing love to our enemies (Verses 43-48)
As always, you can find our sermon online at our YouTube page here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jszgBxxtuOM&t=1s
Anyhow, I think that’s it! I hope you have a great week, and I’ll see you soon.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Larry Bogen
