For the week of July 7th, 2024
Hi church family!
I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty nice! On Friday night, we had some family friends by for a sleep over, and our kids stayed out in the backyard to watch fireworks after dark. It make me really thankful that I get to be a dad.
Here’s what we are looking at this week:
World Changers Week:
This week is World Changers! I am currently writing this email in my office, and I can hear them doing work on our church- cleaning, breaking down walls, constructing doors, etc. Please be in prayer for our World Changers as they work in our church.
Additionally, we have several volunteers on deck for helping with lunch this week. IF you have any questions regarding that, shoot Deb Bogen a text at 425.408.3200.
Also, this week, WE DO NOT HAVE WEDNESDAY EVENING SERVICE OR NEXT WEEK due to world changers AND vbs. We will start up again the week after VBS. The date we are officially resuming is Wednesday, July 24th.
Wednesday Evening Service:
As a reminder, WE DO NOT HAVE WEDNESDAY EVENING SERVICE OR NEXT WEEK due to world changers AND vbs. We will start up again the week after VBS. The date we are officially resuming is Wednesday, July 24th.
VBS Week:
Next week is our VBS week! It officially begins on Sunday morning:
On Sunday morning, we are hosting our friends from Virginia for church service. After service is our Decoration Day. We’ll have Pizza and decorate with our visitors after church on Sunday. We hope to see you there for both fellowship and service.
VBS Schedule: Our VBS Schedule each evening will be emailed out later this week.
VBS Volunteers: During our Plugged In session, we talked about the volunteer roles. Here’s what everyone signed up for:
Snacks: Every evening, we are providing our VBS attendees with simple snacks. Laura Fleeman is leading this team with Betty Rayha and Kristi Ocejo supporting.
Mom’s Table and Dad’s Table: Every evening, we are giving gifts with bible verses affixed to them to our parents who drop off their kids to attend VBS, as well as taking prayer requ3sts . Cheryl Bokisa is setting this up, and leading it out if available, with Deb Bogen, and Laura Fleeman running support. Jim Jackson, Frank Brooks, and John Ocejo are running the men’s table.
Registration Table: When the attendees come in to get dropped off, they will swing by the registration table to get checked in. Kathy Hall is leading this up, with Mary Cait and Kristi Ocejo running support.
Helpers: This year, we are having ‘helpers’ in each VBS class to support the lead teachers from Virginia. They are Lorinda Anderchin, Marisa Kreis, and Christian Smith. We may need more helpers.
Security/ Floater: Throughout the evening, we will need a hand full of men and women to be available to answer questions, and make sure everyone is where they need to be. On Sunday Morning, I forgot to ask for volunteers! I have had a couple of men and women approach me about this, so we are properly staffed for this.
If you would like to help out and are not on the list, come on out, even if it’s only for one day! A great thing about ministry and service is that we try to incorporate as much fellowship into it as possible.
Pop up Playdates: Next Monday through Thursday, our Virginia partners will go to four parks with Mary-Cait Holbrook and Marisa Kreis. The plan is to go to a park with a cooler full of Ice Pops and bottles waters and have good conversations with other moms and families. Here is the official schedule:
· John Bernath Park at Holland Rd, Brook Park, OH 44142 (On the corner of Holland Rd and Hardin Dr)
· John F. Kennedy Park at 17095 Sylvia Dr, Brook Park, OH 44142
· Middleburg Heights Playground at 15700 Bagley Rd
· Rocketship Playground at 235 Riveredge Pkwy, Berea, OH 44017
Cookies for Businesses: Next Monday through Thursday, our Virginia partners will also cook and deliver cookies to various businesses around Middleburg Heights and Brook Park and offer to pray with them. This will take place during the mornings, and (I) Pastor Larry will be heading this up. If you would like to come out to do ministry with us, please let me know!
If you have any questions about any of this, please email me or call me at 216.403.5462.
