The Weekly Rundown

For the week of March 8, 2026

Hi church family!
I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was a bit of a mixed bag. I got to spend Saturday laying low with my kids because they had pink eye. Here’s what we are looking at this week.
 Spring Break Kits:
We are officially one week into our spring break kit season! Every year, our church collects for and builds ‘spring break kits for the larger Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Berea, and Parma community.  These kits  have snacks for the kids during the week, as well as activities that can be done at home, and an invite to our church.
We started doing this 2 years ago to help address the needs of families who rely on the school district for food, and every year we get to minister to people with the gospel in word and deed.
This will be a shorter collection season due to how late we were able to get started this year.
Here is what we are collecting:

Snacks:
·       Peanut Butter
·       Jelly
·       Microwave Popcorn
·       Fruit cups/ Applesauce
·       Ready to eat Jello/ ready to eat pudding
·       Drink Mixes
·       Fruit Snacks
·       Granola  Bars
·       Crackers/ single-serve chips
·       Pop-tarts
·       Cereal
Activities:
·       Sidewalk Chalk- Need met!
·       Frisbee
·       Magnifying Glass/ Bug Nets
·       Craft Kits
·       Small Cars (matchbook cars)
·       Foam airplanes
·       Jump Rope
·       Kite

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering:
In addition to collecting for our spring break kits, during the month of March, our church is collecting for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering which goes to:
·       Church Planting - financial funding and benefits for planting missionaries, training, recruitment, ministry assistance for equipment and outreach, missionary housing, missionary care.
·       Evangelism and Compassion Ministries - evangelism resource materials and events, financial funding and benefits for missionaries involved in compassion ministry.
·       Sending and Leadership - mobilization events, leadership resources and events, funding for short-term student missionaries.
·       Missions Education - resources and training focused on mission field education for recruitment and mobilization of church planting missionaries.
The goal for our church is twofold: (1) $500, and (2) 30% of our church families (a total of 10 families) to give to this offering.  For more information about Annie Armstrong Easter offering, click the following link:

We are waiting to hear back how much we’ve been able to raise for this offering, and will send out updates as they come in.
 JOY Club:
Our Next JOY club meets on Thursday, March 19th at  Goody’s(Brook Park) at 12:30 PM. We hope to see you there!
 Meal Train:
As many of you know, Betty Rayha is having shoulder replacement surgery on March 13th and we, as her church family, are supporting her through a meal train (link included below). Our plan is to provide 2 meals a week for 3 weeks following her surgery.
You can find the meal train link here:

 A few things to remember:
If you are sick, please do not volunteer to cook or deliver any meals.
Please, as much as possible, deliver food in dishes that don't need to be returned (take and toss etc.)
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need help with reserving a volunteer date, delivering a meal or with any questions!
I appreciate your willingness to serve our dear sister!
Thank you!
 Women’s Ministry Conference:
Our women’s ministry has big plans for 2026! One of them is to attend the following conference”
SCBO Women's retreat: Unshaken Trust, April 18th in Amherst, Ohio from 10-4 pm. Register online $25 or at the door $30 (lunch is provided)
"Join women from across Ohio for a day of encouragement, worship, and meaningful connection as we grow in an Unshaken Trust in the Lord. This retreat is designed to help you walk through grief with biblical hope and steady confidence - learning how God meets us in sorrow and strengthens us to stand firm   https://subspla.sh/scjwydm  - A few PHBC women are already registered and carpooling to the retreat. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Deb Bogen.
 Additional resources:
Over the weekend, we looked at the concepts of work and toil in the book of Ecclesiastes. Here is the sermon information:
Sermon Series: The Good Life
Text: Ecclesiastes 2:18-26
Sermon Title: Work
Main Idea of the Text: Toil doesn’t gain anything because you have to give you give the result of your toil away to the ‘next guy.’ Therefore, the best thing you can do is enjoy your toil, though it is fleeting.
Main Idea of the Sermon: Work is a good gift from God that has been cursed.
I- The vanity of work (Verses 18-23)
II- The blessing of work (Verses 24-25)
As always, you can find the sermon on our YouTube page here:

Team K.I.D.- last Wednesday, our Team K.I.D. Ministry looked at the 10 commandments. You can find the curriculum we used here:
