The Weekly Rundown

For the week of December 7th , 2025

Hi Church family!
I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good! I was able to get my Christmas shopping done for my wife. Here’s what we are looking at this week:
Final Wednesday Evening Service of the year:
Next week, on December 10th, is our final Wednesday evening service. We are having a large collective dinner. It begins at 6:30. We hope to see you there as well.
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering:
December is upon us, and so is our Lottie Moon Christmas offering! While our goal was $500 to be raised for international missions and have already been met by one gracious family earlier on in the year.
We will still be taking up an offering this year, but the focus of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will be for praying for people groups and missionaries across the world.
Advent season and Christmas Eve service:
We are officially in Advent and Christmas season! The next 3 weeks we will be having Christmas-themed worship, as well as going through the gifts that Jesus gives to us as Christians. If you have non-churched friends, this would be a great time of the year to invite them to church.
Additionally, we will be having a Christmas Eve service. It is tentatively scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24th. More details to follow.
Also, we have a small collection of Advent devotional books called Everyday Gospel- Christmas Devotional by Paul Tripp. They will be available in the vestibule for the month of December.
I really enjoy pastor Paul Tripp and his writings. The devotions are short, manageable, and though they are daily are very enjoyable to read.
Junior Jam party and outreach:
As previously mentioned, our kid’s ministry- Junior jam- is having its Christmas party the weekend of December 20th and 21st.
On Saturday, the 20th, we are meeting at 10:00 a.m. to wrap Christmas gifts for the residents of Royal Oaks nursing home.
On Sunday, we are meeting after church to deliver the Christmas gifts to Royal Oaks nursing home.
If any of this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, please reach out to Lorinda Anderson.
Church and Business meeting and 2026 budget:
Our business meeting for the 2026 budget will be on Sunday, December 21st at 9:30 AM during the Sunday School hour. This will be our final business meeting of the year in which we will discuss our 2026 budget.
The budget proposal will be laid out on the vestibule for the next two weeks, and I'm more than happy to give you or email your copy if you need.
Please be sure to prayerfully read through our line items to see what we are planning on spending our budget on this year.
Joy club:
This year's final Joy club will take place on Thursday, December 18th at 12:30 at Max and Erma’s. We hope to see you there!
Additional resources:
Over the weekend, we looked at the first of our Advent series where Jesus gives us hope. Here's the sermon information:
Sermon Series: Jesus gives…
Text: John 14:25-31
Sermon Title: … Peace
Main Idea of the Text: Jesus promises the Holy Spirit who will give peace to believers at the time and after the time of Jesus’ departure, which He was planning to do.
Main Idea of the Sermon: Jesus gives peace to all those who trust in Him.
I- The vehicle for peace (Verses 25-26)
II- The uniqueness of peace (Verse 27)
III- The cost of peace (Verses 28-31)
As always, you can find the sermon on our YouTube channel here:
Jesus gives…....Peace (John 14:25-31)
Over the weekend, we talked in our sermon about the instability of secularism and need for religion in the West, especially in Nordic countries like Sweden. Below is a 56-minute podcast discussing just that:
3 Threats to Secularism in the West
Anyhow, I think that’s it! I hope you have a great week, and I’ll see you soon.
Sincerely in Christ,
 Pastor Larry Bogen
