For the week of January 29, 2023
Hi church family!
I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was fantastic- This weekend I got to baptize a fellow believer at church! Here is what we are looking at this week:
Lord’s Supper:
This Sunday we are having the Lord’s Supper! I look forward to partaking the elements with you this upcoming weekend.
As a reminder, please spend the week in prayer over any unconfessed and unrepentant sin, as well as any dispute you have with other Christians so you can partake of the elements in a worthy manner.
Wednesday Evening Service:
Wednesday Evening Services resume in about two weeks on Wednesday the 15th at 6:30 PM. More information is coming this weekend.
Discipleship groups:
On Sunday, February 19th, we are starting our next Discipleship group curriculum on Ephesians, taught by JD Greear via RightNow Media.

Additional Resources:
Over the weekend, we looked at Elijah having the contest with the god Baal. Below is the sermon in information:
Text: 1 Kings 18:20-46
Series Title: Elijah the Tishbite
Sermon Title: Battle of the gods
Main Idea of the Text: The LORD is proven as God in the contest of gods, and the Baal prophets are put to death.
Main Idea of the Sermon: The LORD is God
I-The silence of false gods (Verses 20-29)
II- The answer of the true God (Verses 30-40)
III- The faithfulness of the true God (Verses 41-46)
Unfortunately, due to several members of our AV team being under the weather, our sermon is not available on our YouTube page.
Jesus interceding for us- During the sermon, we looked at just as Elijah interceded for Israel, Jesus intercedes for us in heaven currently. Below is a short article from gotquestions that describes why He is doing that:

New Covenant- During the sermon, we looked at a new covenant that we are under as believers. This phraseology isn’t used often in our church, but is true nonetheless. Below is a short devotional by John Piper that talks this new covenant in a practical way:

Hitler and Christianity- Over the weekend we looked at an extreme example of a person claiming to be a follower of Christ, but actually being opposed to Christianity. The example we looked at was Adolf Hitler. Below is a link to his religious views regarding Christianity. While I usually don’t include links like this, often times Christian faith is referred to as ‘the faith of Hitler,’ which is false. While there was a quote that goes “The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity,”, comes from the book from Hitler’s Table Talks which was a series of monologues between Hitler and his closest allies. The reason I am not including any links to this is simply that some of the quotes and monologues have been considered to be and may not be as reliable as I thought.

Anyhow, I think that’s it! I hope you have a great week, and I’ll see you soon.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Larry Bogen
