Our History
Park Heights Baptist Church began as a mission work of Harmony Baptist Church under missionary Paul Nevels in 1960. The work was then called the First Baptist Church of Brook Park. The first building was built at its present location beginning in 1961. James Oliver was called as the first pastor, also in 1960. In 1973, under the leadership of Pastor Bunyan Wallace, ground was again broken for the second building, which is the current sanctuary. In 1981 a mission began in the inner city of Cleveland called Victory Chapel. Today, Victory Church continues to serve the inner city. On August 1985, the First Baptist Church of Brook Park voted to alter its name to clearly identify with its location between Brook Park and Middleburg Heights. The names of the two communities were combined to form Park Heights Baptist Church. On June 28, 2010, Dr. Steve Brown became the pastor of Park Heights. He resigned on October 14, 2018. Larry Bogen became our pastor on September 29, 2019.
