Vision

A vision statement is a long-term vision of what the church is striving to become. In other words, “What could and should our business be? What is our preferred future?” The purpose of such a statement is to help the church stay true to its task. The goal of the church is not simply to help people find fellowship or a sense of belonging (though we should). It is about joining hands with the body of Christ in the mission of the church. The vision statement of our church is: We exist to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.

We do this using our discipleship pathway. We believe that disciples exalt Jesus, equip other disciples and engage others with the love and gospel of Jesus.
We invite you to exalt Christ with us during our worship services.
We encourage you to do life with us and become equipped as a disciple in one of our small groups.
We deeply desire that you join us as we engage our community and the nations with the love and gospel of Jesus.

Values

Values Statement for Park Heights Baptist Church

Luke writes in Acts 2:42-47, “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
We believe that this passage lays out at least 10 core values for the church today. These core values will act as a guide for everything we do at PHBC. Based upon our understanding of the values detailed in Acts we have adopted the following for our church:

1. TRANSFORMATIONAL TRUTH
Theological depth will be a core value of the church. The Word of God transforms lives not the thoughts of men. We will take great care in handling and communicating God’s Truth.

2. AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY
People want to be a part of something that is real and genuine. These characteristics will define the ministries of the church. We want the people of PHBC to experience genuine and real life together. We want church to be a safe place where we can share everything.  Life-change happens in the context of relationships. These will be very real and intentional.

3. JOYFUL WORSHIP
Worship at PHBC will be a fun celebration of what God is doing!

4. RADICAL STEWARDSHIP
We realize that we own nothing. In Acts everyone gave as others had need and we will give of all the resources that God has given to us: our treasure, time, talents, temple, and testimony.

5. PASSIONATE EVANGELISM
We exist to reach people for the glory of God. It is the heartbeat of PHBC because it is the heartbeat of God. We want to see and love others as God sees and loves them and be moved with compassion and a zeal to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

6. SACRIFICIAL SERVICE
The community will know that PHBC loves them and desires to be a part of their lives. We will be involved in servant evangelism and community events throughout Cayahoga County and beyond. We will also learn and use our spiritual gifts in ways that build up the body of Christ.

7. RELEVANT MINISTRY
Everything we do must be practical and relevant in today’s culture. We will hold true to doctrine and theology while we change our methodology in order to impact the world of today. The gospel does not need updating, only the methods by which it is communicated. OUR MESSAGE MUST NOT CHANGE BUT OUR METHODS MUST.

8. CENTRALITY OF CHRIST
Christ is not just a part of our life and ministry; HE IS OUR LIFE AND MINISTRY. All that we do or even attempt to do will be done for the glory and honor and in the name of Christ. It’s all about Jesus.

9. POWERFUL PRAYER.
We realize that nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer and that we can do absolutely nothing unless we are connected to Christ through prayer. Prayer will be a part of everything that we do at PHBC.

10. HEALTHY REPRODUCTION.
Healthy things usually reproduce. As the Lord leads, we attempt to call out the called and send them into the fields in which God has prepared for them. We believe in planting and starting other churches, teaming together with those that are currently involved. As the Lord adds to our numbers, we want to continue to be able to start new works that will continue us to bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus.
